SO I’m writing this quickly from an internet cafe in Jinja, Uganda. No, I did not expect to take a trip to Uganda in the middle of the busiest work week in a long time…. But, alas, my Kenya special pass + visa expired yesterday, so it was decided quite last minute that I had to hop over the border to Uganda [it’s literally minutes from Busia, Kenya - the town is named Busia, Uganda] and now I get to chill for a few days. Basically, it’s ridiculous. I was pretty unhappy yesterday - it’s just the worst timing ever, and we kept hoping the lawyer would be able to get another special pass for me in time, but then I just had to leave before the day ended and everything expired - apparently that’s not good… Anyway, I’m trying to make the best of the situation and took a matatu to Jinja today, a town ~2 hrs away that is supposed to be a cool place… Depending on a few things, there’s a chance I will go white water rafting on the Nile tomorrow… Which would admittedly be pretty awesome. So, we’ll see. I do feel really bad that I can’t be of much help for work in this situation… Ugh.

But, good news! I just found out that my special pass came through today, I’ll have it on Monday. Yay, legal residence.
